We don’t tend to ever see the insides of a machine, be it a car, a dishwasher, or a phone.

When it comes to choosing, most of us base our selection on the looks, or the brand, or the reputation.

So, our car is a Beemer or a Porsche or a Tesla, but when asked why we didn’t purchase a cheaper Civic or Corolla, which “does the job” our answer is related to branding or safety or reliability or being an extension of our personal style.

But then, when the IT professionals suggest we acquire a good device, be it a firewall, a server, a computer, or a cloud service, we tend to buy the cheaper units/goods because “it does the job”.
